barflydurham.com made a donation to help restore the Durham Athletic Park. The Grand Opening of the historic Durham Athletic Park is set to take place on August 14, 2009. We got our invite to the event recently and we plan to attend. We are excited to see the park re-open. This also means the annual
World Beer Festival in Durham and the
Bull Durham Blues Festival events will return to the DAP.

Local business 'pitches in' to help restore the Durham Athletic Park.Durham, North Carolina – August 1st, 2008 – barflydurham.com –barflydurham.com has announced that it has made a donation of $2,000.00
to Renaissance Downtown Durham, Inc. The money will support the
restoration of seating at the Durham Athletic Park (DAP) of Durham, North
Carolina.
Matthew McGuigan, co-founder of barflydurham.com, said of the donation, “As
a local business, we are excited about the opportunity to give back to
the community that has supported us. The DAP is an important symbol for
Durham residents and we are proud to be a part of its restoration.”
The Durham Athletic Park is arguably one of the most famous minor league
baseball parks in the United States and was featured prominently in the
1988, Kevin Costner film, Bull Durham.
Renaissance Downtown Durham, the nonprofit branch of Downtown Durham
Inc., is helping the City of Durham raise money for the restoration. A
donation of one hundred dollars will help restore a single seat and
donations of two thousand dollars will help restore a full section of
seats. Additionally there are premium sections that will be restored for
donations of five thousand dollars. Additional information can be found
